Bill
and Dario have been fishing the Dickson Inlet in Port
Douglas for a combined 30 years. They know the Port
Douglas Inlet inside and out and are experts on the
fish and feeding habits of targeted species that inhabit
the Estuary.
The
Dickson Inlet Port Douglas is a biologically rich and
diverse ecosystem that acts as a nursery for many fish
species. Unlike a river, which is affected adversely
by lack of rain, the Dickson Inlet is an estuary which
means that the tides ensure a regular supply of fish
species. And this is great news for fishermen in Port
Douglas.
Sea
Eagles, Brahminy Kites and a large variety of birdlife
and crocodiles are regularly seen on the tour. Spectacular
views of the Rex Range and Mossman Gorge can be enjoyed
whilst fishing on the Dickson Inlet.
Trinity
Sportfishing Port Douglas is strictly catch and release
as this ensures sustainable fish stocks for the generations
of recreational fishermen and anglers to come. Unlike
other Port Douglas estuary fishing tours, Bill and Dario
always catch live bait to use for the fishing tour.
The live bait is caught using a cast net at the beginning
of the tour. The use of live bait ensures aggressive
predatory fish.
Quality
Shimano tackle is used as well as custom built sportsfishing
rods. Fish species regularly caught on Trinity Sportfishing
Half Day Tours Port Douglas include: Barramundi, Fingermark,
Mangrove Jack, Grunter, Queenfish, Cod, Tarpon, Salmon,
Bream and Giant Trevally.
Lure
and Fly Fishing Tours are also available from Port Douglas
but only as a private
charter. When booking private fishing charters,
Trinity Sportfishing will need to be advised of the
clients needs in relation to Lure
or Fly Fishing.
The
vessel used by Trinity Sportfishing Port Douglas is
a 6 metre Cairns Custom Craft, specifically built to
allow 6 anglers to fish in comfort. The full canopy
provides protection from the sun. The boat, "Jessie"
is stable and has a very shallow draft, enabling access
to all areas of the Inlet.
A
half day tour with Trinity Sportfishing costs $90
per person. This price is inclusive of drinks, sunscreen,
insect repellant and tackle. Morning
and afternoon trips are available on a daily basis all
year around and night trips are available from September
